002 Artist Workshop: Audrey Lyall

A 1-hour workshop with artist Audrey Lyall. We will explore her creative process and discuss how imagination fuels her work. This will be an interactive workshop and we encourage all attendees to bring any art materials you may have! You can check out Audrey’s work here.

Audrey is a multimedia artist raised in Corte Madera, CA and currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. Lyall uses a variety of materials such as acrylic paint, watercolor, clay, fabric, collaged paper, and more to create maximalist Afro-futurist works. Within her artistic practice, she navigates a variety of topics such as race relations, identity, surveillance, and social anxiety.

Grounded Meditation with Éva-Milan Zsiga

A 30-minute guided meditation led by Éva-Milan Zsiga to assist us in fighting overwhelming anxiety and stress at this time. Éva will also share tips and tricks on how to return to your breath in times of panic, as well as demonstrate some physical movements useful for grounding yourself. Éva is also currently leading weekly virtual meditations with Tumbleweed.

#FEMINISTANTIBODIES: HOW TO COMBAT ANTI-ASIAN RACISM

A 1-hour workshop with the Asian-American Feminist Collective (AAFC) where we will explore how we can combat Asian-American racism in the face of COVID-19. Drawing from their recent zine, "Care in the Time of Coronavirus", this will be a holistic training that will discuss histories of public health and racism; confront anti-Blackness, colorism, and the "model minority" myth in Asian-American communities; and build strategies for liberation and resistance. AAFC engages in intersectional feminist politics grounded within their communities, including those whose backgrounds encompass East, Southeast, South Asian, Pacific Islander, multi-ethnic and diasporic Asian identities. Through public events and resources, AAFC seeks to provide spaces for identity exploration, political education, community building, and advocacy.

Virtual Organizing Through a Disability Justice Lens

A virtual lecture led by disabled intellectual Cyree Jarelle Johnson about the history of virtual organizing that the disability rights community has pioneered, and how we can best center disability justice as we organize in the shadow of COVID-19.

002 Artist Workshop: Caseena Karim

Reimagine media in this 1-hour workshop on video editing and sound editing with artist Caseena Karim. Learn the basics of Adobe Creative Suite and free online programs. We will also be screening works from queer and trans artists of color working to challenge the boundaries of media.

Caseena Karim (Cy-Fi) is an NYC native artist and graduate of Parsons School of Design. Her new media work challenges the boundaries of film, performance, music, and animation. Her video performances and discussions are showcased through her platforms, Spicy-Films and CraveMoreBK, a series of collaborations with NYC-based queer and trans people of color. Her work has been exhibited at Eyebeam for BUFU’s Eyedream Residency, BronxArtSpace, and ArtForum.

Yoga with Meenakshi Parashar

A 1-hour session with Meenakshi Parashar to get us in touch with our bodies and get us moving and sweating. She will guide us through vinyasa flow, stretching, breathing exercises, and balance. Sessions are donation based and all proceeds go to various mutual aid funds.

002 Artist Workshop: Nia Rutledge

A 1-hour workshop with Nia Rutledge, an interdisciplinary artist and video game designer. Nia will be guiding us through her songwriting process by showing us the musical set up in her room and how she navigates this process with limited access to gear and equipment. She will also be briefly walking us through a video game she has coded about Honey Gold, a character she created who is the descendant of Cupid and Venus.

Nia Rutledge is an interdisciplinary artist who is passionate about new media, traditional media, and creative writing. She has been developing experimental performances under the names of Kinky Spooky, NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE, and ARKADE KYTTY which incorporate poetry, music, experimental film, and animation.
